Be wary of preachers who spawn complacency.
The Holy Word of God says, "God is Love." But man is perfectly capable of blocking God’s love, blessing and protection out of his life because God, in his sovereign wisdom gave man, whom he made in his own image, a choice. He honored man with a sovereign will to choose to either (1) humble himself and draw nigh unto God and to thereby receive God's love, blessing and protection or (2) to be proud and arrogant and to, therefore, seek the gratification of his own lusts, i. e., the gratification of his biases, his prejudices, and his self-centered cravings, ambitions and greed. Thus man may exercise his God-given authority to factor God out of his life and thereby become a god unto himself worshiping at the feet of false gods that are this world's “law-of-the-jungle” values, and God will honor that decision. God will accept that he is blocked out and, therefore, is not allowed to love, bless and protect that person by that person's own choice. But since God is blocked out of that person’s life by that person's own sovereign choice, he automatically becomes God's enemy, because the Holy Word of God says, "I will have no other gods before me,” and “I the Lord your God am a jealous God." And as it was in the days of Noah, men were lovers of self and violent, so self-absorbed and wicked that God repented that he had made man, and in his righteous wrath God sent a flood that took them all away. Only the sole humble man on the planet, Noah, and his family received deliverance from God's righteous judgment.
So yes, God, who is Love, will love you too, if you'll allow him to.
II Chronicles 16:9: "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him."
Postscript: When you are in Christ there is no “past.” You don’t have to worry about the mistakes you’ve made in your life or your unworthiness, because when you are in Christ you have no “past.” You only have the ecstatic luxury of flowing with God:
You are blessed. You are protected. You are loved.
